Beaches on the Barcelona coast: Safety and hygiene

Coastal management is becoming one of the key priorities for coastal municipalities, which share responsibilities both for environmental protection and for ensuring the health of the people who use these public spaces.

    • The current legislation is supplemented with the municipal ordinances, which basically regulate the use of the municipality's beaches, guaranteeing the public's right to enjoy them and make public use of the sea, its shore and other publicly owned spaces and their areas of protection and easement, pursuant to the powers attributed to the municipalities in Article 115 of Law 22/1988, of 28 July, on coasts.
