Mare de Déu de la Sala
Also known as Santa Maria de la Sala, this Romanesque hermitage is located to the southeast of the municipality of Jorba, on a small raised plain near the Anoia River and Can Cansalada farmhouse.
It has a pure Romanesque style, to which a bell tower was added on the west wall.
Between the Romanesque church and the farmhouse sits a commemorative cross that was erected in 1911 and which commemorates the mass pilgrimage held there on 25 August of the previous year. It was financed by public donations.
The place name Sala was mentioned for the first time in 1012, with the variant Sanla meaning a rural enclave, and was later enshrined in the La Sala farmhouse, today known as Can Cansalada. In 1212, it was absorbed by the Montserrat Monastery. The church was mentioned for the first time in 1185, although its construction predates this year. It is unknown when it was first settled by the hermits, who were there until 1823.
