
On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from the Life eCOadapt50 project we organized, within the framework of the local CONAMA in Viladecans, the participatory workshop “The role of rural municipalities in climate adaptation: from challenge to action”, which brought together about thirty attendees to share experiences and challenges on how rural municipalities can advance in climate adaptation policies.

Living Labs for Climate Change Adaptation (LL4CC) are an initiative of the Life eCOadapt50 project to establish structures for the co-creation of climate change adaptation solutions in different Catalan territories. Since the start of the Life eCOadapt50 project in January 2023, more than 80 LL4CC sessions have been held across all project territories, where more than 105 actions have been co-created among local stakeholders.

Around 70 people, technicians and socio-economic stakeholders of the Life eCOadapt50 project, met on June 19 at Montesquiu Castle Park to advance the identification of shared responses to climate change. The event was organized by IU-RESCAT of the Rovira i Virgili University with the support of the Climate Action and Energy Transition Area of the Barcelona Provincial Council, as project coordinator.

Training the agents involved in the different sectors of the project is key to ensuring the successful implementation of the Life eCOadapt50 project methodology. In this context, two in-person workshops were organized for the fishing sector (Estartit, 19 November 2025) and for the forestry sector (Montesquiu Castle Park, 27 November 2025).

More than 75 people attended on Thursday, November 6 in Santa Margarida i els Monjos the second monitoring visit of the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), which carries out the technical and financial monitoring of the Life eCOadapt50 project. At the technical level, the main results of the work packages were presented, and on the financial side, a review of the budget execution status of the partners was carried out. On the second day, Friday 7, field visits were organized to see three actions being implemented within the framework of the project, attended by about thirty people.

The Life eCOadapt50 project launches the online course “Local adaptation for climate change”, a new free training initiative aimed at strengthening the capacities of individuals, organizations and territories to adapt to the impacts of climate change. Developed within the framework of Work Package 6 of the project and coordinated by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, this course supports the project’s mission to adapt territories and the local economy to climate change. In this link you can consult the new section of the project website, the Replicability Toolkit, which is part of Work Package 10 (WP10 Sustainability, replication and exploitation of project results). It integrates all the tools developed within the framework of the project, including action summary sheets, training materials, presentations and documentation from the sessions, audiovisual capsules of the actions, climate vulnerability sheets, and project dissemination materials, among others.

From October 22 to 24, Life eCOadapt50 was presented as a project at the GEF2025 Barcelona | Global Ecotourism Forum 2025 held at Món Sant Benet following the call for projects. Thus, a project poster was created and placed in designated spaces during the forum so that attendees could consult it and exchange experiences.

On November 27, taking advantage of a meeting of the Natural Heritage Mission (MPN) of the Interreg Euro-MED Program in Barcelona, the first local meeting of the Better Blue project was held, of which the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce are partners.

Climate change is already rapidly altering the physical-chemical and biological characteristics of the Mediterranean Sea. For this reason, Life eCOadapt50 commissioned a report from the Institute of Marine Sciences on how climate change affects the Catalan fishing sector. The study was presented and discussed at the GALP Costa Brava Living Lab on Wednesday, November 19 in L’Estartit and serves as a starting point for designing and proposing adaptation measures.
