New online course by the Life eCOadapt50 project to promote local adaptation to climate change - Life eCOadapt50

Jornada sobre el cigronet de Senan
The course provides essential knowledge, tools, and data to help participants identify and implement effective actions to reduce the vulnerability of territories and their main economic activities.
It is open to professionals from economic sectors, public administration staff, project stakeholders and agents, as well as the general public interested in understanding and taking action on climate challenges.
With an approximate duration of five hours, the course combines videos, interactive presentations, informative materials, and self-assessment quizzes to encourage dynamic and practical learning.
Learning objectives
The main goal is to empower all sectors and stakeholders with the knowledge and tools needed to face climate impacts and apply sustainable adaptation measures. Specific objectives include:
- Understanding what climate change is and its key terminology.
- Identifying the causes and consequences of climate change.
- Recognising risks and vulnerabilities affecting ecosystems, sectors, and workers.
- Exploring adaptation strategies and best practices.
- Learning about financial mechanisms and the role of the insurance sector in climate risk management.
The course also features four sector-specific modules, focusing on the most climate-vulnerable sectors: agriculture and livestock farming, forestry, fisheries, and tourism — each addressing sectoral challenges and promoting innovation and sustainable management practices.
A key part of the project’s training strategy
Alongside online webinars and in-person workshops, this course is part of the project’s broader capacity-building strategy, which is based on a detailed analysis of training needs to ensure that the content responds to the real priorities of the stakeholders involved.
The materials have been developed in collaboration with experts and partners from the LIFE eCOadapt50 consortium, guaranteeing scientific quality and territorial relevance.
Linking training with territorial action: the role of the Living Labs
The Life eCOadapt50 project promotes participatory governance through the Living Labs for Climate Change (LL4CC) — territorial spaces where local administrations, economic agents, organisations, and citizens work together to identify, prioritise, and validate adaptation actions.
This new course complements the work of the Living Labs by providing a shared foundation of knowledge that enables participants to collaborate and make informed decisions during territorial meetings. In doing so, the training strengthens the link between learning and real climate action.
Who is it for?
The course is open and free of charge, and it is designed for:
- Stakeholders and agents involved in the LIFE eCOadapt50 project.
- Professionals from the agriculture, livestock, forestry, fisheries, and tourism sectors.
- Technical staff and public officials working on climate and territorial policies.
- Insurance companies and financial institutions, as key actors in climate risk management.
- And the general public, to foster awareness and collective action in response to climate change.
