Objectives - Life eCOadapt50

Main objective

The main objective of LIFE eCOadapt50 is to promote the transformation of territories and their activities in order to make them less vulnerable to the effects of climate change. To this end, we will promote investment and the implementation of measures to adapt to climate change in the short, medium and long term, in conjunction with the socio-economic actors of the different territories from the outset. We are targeting the following economic sectors: agriculture and livestock, forestry, fishing, and tourism, as well as the local administrations of 19 territories in Catalonia.

Carry out long-term actions and investments

We aim to implement at least 76 pilot actions in the territories included in the project. We will also seek funding for climate change adaptation actions and projects beyond the scope of the project, for a value of more than 73 million euros, and we will promote the organisation of public, private and mixed investment processes.

Building resilience in the territories

We want to generate specific knowledge and promote innovative solutions for adaptation to climate change; Integrate adaptation into local policies and risk management involving public institutions, the private sector and insurance companies; train key actors, and help raise public awareness of the impacts of climate change and the need to act.

Establish stable governance structures for climate change adaptation, the Living Labs for Climate Change (LL4CC)

Engage local actors in adaptation governance processes and promote coordination and synergy between public and private actions. Multiply the impact of actions by facilitating networking between territories. Expand the dissemination of results among citizens and increase their involvement in climate change actions.

Extend the implementation of the Local Climate Adaptation Strategy -ELACC- and plan further actions to adapt to climate change.
