CONAMA is the leading environmental fair in Spain—a space for reflecting on sustainability initiatives with professionals from across the country and around the world. The session will feature two discussion panels: one on territorial tools for sustainability, and another on innovation and collaboration for sustainable water management and the transfer of solutions to local areas.
Núria Parpal, Director of Life eCOadapt50, will present the project’s main objectives, highlighting its integrated approach to turning planning into concrete action in territories affected by climate change. The project promotes climate adaptation through a participatory process involving socio-economic actors, citizens, public administrations, academic institutions, and the financial and insurance sectors.
The presentation will showcase efforts to develop strategic adaptation plans based on co-creation and cross-sector collaboration, ensuring the effective implementation of local solutions. It will include examples of pilot actions for territorial resilience, highlighting innovative tools and governance mechanisms designed to address climate challenges, as well as methodologies for integrating the needs of diverse stakeholders and fostering sustainability and replicability.
The session will present innovative and multidisciplinary approaches to managing and conserving rural areas, promoting balanced development that integrates environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Integrated territorial planning will be key to identifying solutions that ensure the sustainability of natural resources and strengthen the resilience of rural communities in the face of current challenges.
Advanced methodologies for preserving landscapes, biodiversity, and ecosystem services—essential for achieving territorial balance—will also be explored. Strategies to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors and local communities will be highlighted, aiming to implement participatory governance models that drive sustainable rural development.
The session will include successful case studies incorporating sustainable agriculture, responsible rural tourism, and renewable energy use, evaluating their application in various contexts without compromising the natural environment. The exchange of experiences and practical methodologies will allow participants to analyze rural conservation challenges and consider effective solutions that promote economic viability, social inclusion, and ecosystem preservation.
