The Living Lab of the LEADER Ripollès Ges Bisaura territory presents its first climate adaptation actions
On Tuesday, March 12, the first Working Table of the Living Lab for the LEADER Ripollès Ges Bisaura territory within the Life eCOadapt50 project was held in Ripoll.

The event brought together 26 participants from various organizations across Ripollès, Vall del Ges, and Bisaura, and served as an experimental space for the co-creation of innovative climate adaptation actions.

Àngels Guiteras, Manager of the Leader Ripollès Ges Bisaura Association, and David Solà, President, welcomed attendees and highlighted the goals of the Life eCOadapt50 project: to work toward climate neutrality by 2050 and implement the EU’s new climate adaptation strategy.

As part of the innovation framework, Rígel Lahoz, technical coordinator of Life eCOadapt50, presented the first two actions to be implemented in the initial phase of the project.

  • The School of Architecture of Vallès presented a project to rehabilitate disused water mills, aiming to preserve architectural heritage and convert them into climate shelters. The proposal includes a phased approach: first restoring the surrounding area and then rehabilitating a small ruin to provide climate comfort.
  • The Gombrèn Town Council proposed building a municipal wood storage facility to promote local biomass use and reduce wildfire risk. Martí Vidal suggested replicating a similar project from Navarre, adapted to Gombrèn, to create climate-resilient spaces.
  • A third proposal from ARCA introduced the idea of developing a livestock test space in Sant Pere de Torelló. Although funded separately by ARCA, it was shared with the Ripollès Ges Bisaura Working Table to ensure local stakeholders are informed about initiatives in their territory.

In a show of ongoing commitment, the session included space for new proposals and collaborations, with a shared goal of continuing to develop more actions in the future. Participants discussed the importance of preserving natural and cultural heritage, with projects such as test spaces, forest management, and silvopasture.

At the end of the session, it was agreed to move forward with the presented actions, reinforcing the Leader Association’s mission to build a more sustainable and climate-resilient territory. The next Working Table is scheduled for the second half of the year, likely in September, with the aim of presenting and implementing more actions for the region.
