Promote employment in the livestock sector
The prevailing intensive lvestock model is detrimental to the local economy and the ecosystem services provided by the agricultural and livestock sector, reducing the resilience of the region to the impacts of climate change. In this context, it is essential to promote employment in this sector through the establishment of new peasantry that brings fresh perspectives, responding to new realities, needs and opportunities of rural regions, and from a perspective of the adaptation of the sector to climate change.
In order to facilitate the establishment of this new peasantry, ARCA is working on the creation of a network of spaces that can be used to carry out the experimentation by entrepreneurs and support services and knowledge transfer for entrepreneurs in the sector, also emphasising education and training in business management and product marketing, to ensure the viability of new enterprises.
Flock of dairy sheep
In this specific action, a pen with the necessary equipment is built in order to carry out the activity and the flock of dairy sheep that will graze open areas and forests from the surrounding area with the aim of preventing forest fires and improving biodiversity.
Silvopastoral practices to combat the risk of forest fire and forest weakening
The action will address some of the main risks to forests from climate change, forest fires and forest weakening, reducing forest competition and fuel through silvopastoral practices. Although the area in which the action will take place is not very large compared to the total forest area of the territory, it will have a significant local impact and will promote agricultural renewal.
