Life eCOadapt50 is presented in Sweden to the partners of the Interreg Better Blue project on climate change adaptation in coastal and maritime regions
Albert Rodríguez, from the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, participated on September 29 in the second meeting of the new Interreg Better Blue project in Umeå (Sweden), where he presented the Life eCOadapt50 project. The meeting generated significant interest and led to the first collaboration. Both the Chamber and the Barcelona Provincial Council are partners in this European project focused on climate change adaptation in coastal and maritime regions.

The Better Blue project aims to address the challenges of climate change and sustainable development in non-metropolitan coastal and maritime regions and islands of Europe through the joint development of a collaborative governance model. This model is based on a holistic, bottom-up approach that balances economic development with environmental conservation and social equity. Better Blue will therefore help regions improve their policies by applying an open collaboration approach to adequately tackle the complex challenges of climate change, encouraging coordinated actions across multiple sectors and levels of governance.

The specific objectives of the project are to model an open collaborative governance approach, foster a society that supports renewable energy and the circular economy, promote business models based on collaboration, sustainable tourism, and the blue economy, engage communities in nature-based solutions, and develop disaster risk reduction strategies with the participation of communities and stakeholders.

The project is structured in two phases. The first phase focuses on the exchange of experiences regarding open collaborative governance models and the identification of good practices. The second phase, building on the first, centers on peer evaluation and co-creation to improve policies.
