The presented works can serve as inspiration for new and better policies and to devise new actions for adapting to climate change. On the one hand, they provide information or reflections on the changes we are already experiencing and how we are preparing for them, both in Catalonia and across Europe. On the other hand, they contain recommendations on what we can do to adapt to climate change in some of the sectors that the Life eCOadapt50 project focuses on, such as agriculture, extensive livestock farming, fisheries, and insurance.
- Annual Climate Indicators Bulletin 2024 (BAIC 2024), by the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (2025)
- Provides data that clearly show how climate conditions are changing in Catalonia.
- Among many other findings, it confirms that the average temperature in Catalonia has increased by 2ºC over the last 75 years, and the warmest years, in order, are 2022, 2023, and 2024.
- Social fairness in preparing for climate change: how just resilience can benefit communities across Europe, by the European Environment Agency (2025)
- Focuses on how to integrate social justice into climate change adaptation policies.
- Specifically addresses the agriculture, food, and water sectors, as well as others such as housing, working conditions, infrastructure, and transportation.
- 10 Keys to Understanding the Needs for Climate Change Adaptation in Farming and at Sea, an illustrated publication by the association Alimentta (2025)
- Alimentta is a think tank focused on food system transition, made up of experts from various disciplines.
- The publication visually—and with humor—explains the implications of climate change for farmers and artisanal fishers.
- Actions to Strengthen Climate Change Adaptation in the Agri-food System, also by Alimentta. Final result of the project Vía Sabia: Building Bridges Between Knowledge Systems for Better Climate Change Adaptation
- Designed as a "toolbox" with 18 recommendations aimed at policymakers, technical staff, and people in the agricultural and fisheries sectors interested in climate adaptation.
- The proposals emerged from roundtable discussions involving farmers, livestock breeders, fishers, experts, etc.
- It aims to both:
- Facilitate the integration of traditional ecological knowledge from agricultural and fishing communities into adaptation strategies, and
- Promote the participation of these sectors in the co-creation of public agri-food policies.
-
The recommendations include proposals for:
-
Ecological adaptation (e.g., regenerating agricultural soils),
-
Social adaptation (e.g., identifying and improving critical infrastructure in light of climate change),
-
Economic adaptation (e.g., recovering and commercially promoting traditional crop varieties), among many others
-
- Extensive Livestock Farming and Climate Change: A Manual for Implementing an Integrated Adaptation and Mitigation Strategy in Southern Europe, by Fundación Entretantos
- A comprehensive document explaining the importance of extensive livestock farming in the face of climate change and how this activity can adapt to new conditions—regarding pasture management, animal care, water, etc.
- Climate Adaptation in the Insurance Sector: Prevention and Risk Reduction, WWF 2025
-
The report outlines the key role of the insurance sector as a social risk manager and investor.
-
It analyzes opportunities and challenges for the sector in climate adaptation, based on literature and interviews with key stakeholders.
It proposes actions both within and outside the insurance sector, such as:-
Strengthening training and awareness on climate adaptation,
-
Reviewing building codes or flood zone maps and alert systems,
-
Developing innovative insurance products, and
-
Adopting resilient reconstruction strategies after disasters ("build back better").
-
-
- Climate Preparedness 2025, by the European Environment Agency
- A website offering a wealth of information on the impacts of extreme events in Europe—such as heatwaves, floods, droughts, and wildfires—through maps and graphics, including both historical data and future projections.
- It also gathers information on climate adaptation strategies across Europe, whether at the national, regional, or local level.
