The meeting will bring together socio-economic stakeholders involved in the Living Labs of the European project Life eCOadapt50, and is also open to professionals, technical staff, and individuals engaged in other local climate adaptation initiatives. It’s a unique opportunity to share learnings, build alliances, and bring in new perspectives from across the country.
Registrations are now open. The program includes keynote talks, a participatory co-creation session, and a technical visit to a pioneering agricultural project.
The event will be opened by Marc Serra, Deputy and President of the Climate Action and Energy Transition Area of the Barcelona Provincial Council, and Leo Bejarano, Head of the Catalan Office for Climate Change at the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition of the Government of Catalonia. Other speakers include Núria Parpal, project coordinator; Enric Aguilar, director of IU-RESCAT; and Joan Carles Àngel, director of the Montesquiu Castle Park.
Jordi Jaria, professor of environmental law at URV, will deliver an inspiring talk on how to foster social resilience in the face of climate challenges. The day will also feature a “coffee-conversation” style participatory session led by the IU-RESCAT team, a presentation of the project’s climate vulnerability assessments by the Catalan Office for Climate Change, and case studies presented by ARCA representatives.
The event will conclude with a technical visit to two experimental farms in the municipality of Orís, where Eugeni Ordeig will present a project focused on recovering ancestral pre-phylloxera grapevine varieties he has discovered in the area. Supported by INCAVI, Life eCOadapt50, and the Catalan Climate Fund, this initiative could play a key role in helping the wine sector adapt to extreme climate conditions.
The event is organized by IU-RESCAT of the Rovira i Virgili University, with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council as project coordinator.
