The bats, a key species at the control of pests and the ecological balance

The disappearance of the bats can become at negative consequences at the pollination, the control of pests, the dispersion of seeds and the ecological balance, which thing would affect natively the forest and agricultural sectors. Besides, the dependency of chemical methods to compensate the loss of ecological kicks provided by the bats can imply additional impacts at the ambient health and the sustainability on a long-term basis.

For everything this, becomes essential to realise prospeccions and follow-ups of the bats at Tarragona's Area, of the hand of informative acts and of sensitisation on these, obtaining as a final product a map with his refuges at the region tarragonina. This task inducts the winter of 2024 with the inventory of refuges and his wintry occupancy made by the GEPEC-EdC, jointly with students of the Universities of Lleida and Barcelona's Freelancer, as well as with the advice of the Museum of Natural Sciences of Granollers.

Awareness of the agents and the citizenry from the results obtained

The act includes an inventory of refuges and his wintry occupancy, with the collaboration of ambient entities, students of universities (Universities of Lleida and Barcelona's Freelancer), and the advice of the Museum of Natural Sciences of Granollers. It Will permit to identify the species of present bats at a specific region and comprise his rols specific at the local ecology was forest or agricultural. This will aid at excelling the key species that exert essential functions and the control of pests.

The results of the survey will be able to use to inform and promote more agricultural practices sustainable. For example, excel the importance of the diversity of crops and the cut of the use of pesticides to maintain healthy populaces of bats.

The projects of follow-up will be valuable to educate so much at the populace as a agriculturalists and other persons interested on the importance of the bats. This will foster a main conscience and support for the conservation of these mammals protected.
